SB 267 bill extends the deadline for the CAHSEE waiver to June 30, 2016 and does not require any other changes to the process. Students still need to sit for the CAHSEE at least one time during their 10th grade year. The language in SB 267 that indicates that students will need to take the test multiple times will apply once an Alternate High School Exit Exam is developed and adopted by the State Board of Education.
SELPA recommended Best Practice: For a student with a disability, have them take the CAHSEE 10th grade year. If they do not pass, have them retake the section(s) they did not pass every year until either they pass or graduate.
